In this floor plan, the living room opens up from the kitchen. The clients wanted a beautiful area to entertain while keeping the space comfortable for everyday use. My client loves dark jewel tones, especially blue and green, but also wanted the room to feel light and airy. Additionally, she requested seating that could be added to the living room when entertaining. Lastly, she wanted comfortable seating at the kitchen island, as it was a space that would be used a lot.
The living room has large windows, bringing in an abundance of natural light into the room. Adding the dark jewel tones she loves of navy and emerald green, I wanted to ensure that the space still felt light and airy. With the sofa being the largest piece in the room, I selected a gray fabric for the sofa, feeling this would keep the room open and airy. Additionally, I selected two swivel chairs in a deep navy fabric as a contrast to the sofa. I added pillows to the sofa to add the accents of navy and emerald to the room. The coffee table and end table were selected in a lighter gray stain and silver metal/marble tops, giving the room both a causal and elegant feel.
We added comfortable counter stools in a rich emerald green fabric and darker wood frame. The window treatments are made of a beautiful off-white embroidery cotton fabric and woven gray fabric roman shade. The living room is pulled together with a fabulous area rug with green and blue accessories. The client can also pull in the chairs from the foyer to add additional seating in the room. What a great place to entertain!
