Project Overview:

While my clients wanted to bring in some color into their living room, they wanted to keep the room simple with clean lines. Since the space is more narrow and long, I wanted to ensure that I made it feel more open. The family enjoys time together by watching sports, and especially enjoy football. My clients are originally from Louisiana and are die-hard LSU fans. The only product that we were keeping from the original space was the LSU artwork, the landscape artwork and floor lamps. The colors in the room were to be reflected from the artwork above the fireplace.

With the LSU artwork being our inspiration for color, I decided to use the navy blue as the main color and use touches of yellow to accent with our neutral being gray. I started with the contemporary sofa and used a soft velvet touch fabric in a navy blue with a lower back profile which allows the room to feel more open. I selected two tufted chairs in gray to add depth against the light gray walls. I added a very large geometric design rug in navy blue and ivory to add another layer of color. With both the sofa and area rug being navy blue, it helps the room to feel lighter. I selected a large cocktail ottoman for comfort when watching the football games in a gray hounds tooth fabric. I used accent pillows in yellows, grays and a touch of teal. These colors not only blended with the LSU artwork but also the artwork above the chairs. I love how the artwork above the chairs really pops with the blend of colors including the red. This artwork is also from the coastline of Louisiana by a local artist. The TV console that was selected has a driftwood finish and front that is waved and fits the coastline. I also used the natural driftwood feel in the accent table with the wood top and chrome legs.
