Project Overview:

This client had a large outdoor space that they wanted to have plenty of seating for entertaining. They built an extra building in the space that had extra garage space and included an outdoor narrow porch area facing the pool. This addition opened up the need to rework the pool design, move the hot tub, and rework the patio spaces. The client wanted to keep the space in a neutral gray and blues. Ultimately, they wanted a modern look of furniture while keeping it a simple and sophisticated space to be enjoyed by both adults and children.

Since the space is so large, I wanted to keep the area simple. I used an outdoor woven wicker that would hold up in the harsh Texas sun. The group chosen is known for their fabrics and cushions holding up and drying quickly in the rain. The finish of the furniture is a taupe that matches well with the stone and stucco of the home’s exterior. We utilized performance outdoor fabrics in blues and gray with several patterns. We split up the area into different sitting groups, from the lounging and dining area under the porch, to the chaise group for sunning, to the sitting group adjacent to the pool for watching the kids. We also designed a storage bench for the narrow porch area off the new garage as a space for the kids to hang out. The bench included the ability to store pool toys and was dressed up with blue fabric on the cushions and pillows. The large porch area includes a rectangular table for large groups of people to eat dinner or play board games after a long day of swimming. Additionally, this area has a great built-in BBQ grill and console for storage. The chaise area is probably one of the clients’ favorite. This area is a wonderful place to layout in the sun or read a book under the large umbrella while watching the kids play in the pool. This is truly a wonderful outdoor space for entertaining or hangout out as a family.
