In this retirement home, the kitchen was very dark and on the smaller side. There are not any windows in the kitchen except in the dining room connected to this room, so it was important to figure out how to make the kitchen light and airy.
For this room we selected a color pallet of blues and beiges. We painted the walls a soft beige with a touch of gray undertones and painted all the trim-work in a creamy white. The lighten up the kitchen, we painted all the cabinets in a creamy white. We also used a quartz with a marble look for the counters that added function and durability to kitchen while keeping it light. Keeping the island the same color as the rest of the cabinetry added a sense of simplicity to the room. Additionally, while there was not a lot of tile area, we wanted to keep it simple and timeless, so we selected a creamy white subway tile. We also changed the appliances to stainless to help reflect more light into the room. We added a touch of color with the use of blue through the accessories and runner. The light fixture is simply beautiful with white and chrome. This kitchen is an elegant space to cook and entertain guests.
