Shabab and Baber had moved into a new large home. They started to buy furniture to fill their 8,000 square feet new home and realized they needed help. While they were happy with their purchases thus far, they knew that they needed help to pull everything together. They had just purchased the furniture and area rug for the room. The artwork was part of the home owner’s collection and they knew they wanted it somewhere in the home. They wanted to keep it neutral colors and loved the color gray. They were not happy with the way the room was coming together.
My design in this room was centered with their piece of artwork. The room has beautiful architectural details and new furniture.
I started by added window treatments to the window. I wanted a silver with a softness and geometric design that would be feminine and elegant. I used a contemporary skip box pleat to keep the design simple on stationary panels. I added a square rod with crystal finials to relate with the chandelier.
Secondly, I changed the area rug. I used a simple large design with the colors of ivory and silver. The original area rug was more beige and browns which did not soften make the room feel elegant. The new area rug design truly does.
Next I needed to add just a few more pieces to the walls but without taking away from our fabulous piece that was the focal of the room. With my client’s love of botanicals, I used artwork in gray/ivory botanicals with silver frames above the buffet. The artwork relates well with the focal without taking away from it. I also added simple candle sconces on either side of the window.
Lastly, I added silver, crystal and greenery through the accessories. By adding candles to the middle of the table in crystal and silver, it really draws your eye down the table to the artwork. I also keep the console decorate simple to relate to the rest – just love the green glass bowl and greenery. Again, kept simple and elegant.
