Project Overview:

Linda and John moved from another state with a job transfer. They are both professionals – Linda is in the insurance industry and John is a pilot for a private company. They spend a lot of time traveling for their jobs and visiting family.
The home they selected was a newly built home and everything was very neutral. Their furniture had been with them for quite a few years and really needed to be replaced. They wanted a space that was uniquely them – rustic, casual, sophisticated and hold up to their 3 dogs and cat. They wanted to add color and loved warm and cool colors. They wanted pieces that were unusual and rustic. They both like clean lines but not too contemporary.
The dining room was not a large space. John and Linda wanted to be able to entertain, so they needed a table to would seat at least 6 people.
First, we selected the color pallet. To bring in the warmth, we continued with the colors that were used in the living room – teal, greens, golds, and rust/pumpkin. We love the combination of both the warm and cool colors. They loved the blue green color – teal. I used a deep teal on the walls, to bring an intimacy in the smaller room.
Secondly, I selected dining room table and chairs in an antique white and two tone wood. I also selected wing chairs for the host/hostess chairs in an ivory and burlap. With the chairs and table being in the light color woods and fabrics, this enabled the room to feel lighter and not heavy. The glass cases were selected in an antiqued black to contrast with the table and chairs.
Next, the window treatments were made in an off-white lined with an embroidery work. They were designed as a tab top to keep the room feeling casual but as the same time sophisticated.
Lastly, we added the accessories and area rugs to pull the room together. The area rug in a unique shape with all the colors they we have used in the living areas. The area rug brings the “Wow – that is cool” to the room. I used white dinnerware and dinnerware that the client is collecting in her black glass cases. The beautiful glass bowl in shades of the oranges, brings a pop of color to contrast with the walls.
This room is uniquely John and Linda!
